Lakeshore Family Festival Is Returning

The last two years we have celebrated Fourth of July at the Lakeshore Family Festival. The festival is held at the Lakeshore Apartments in Ypsilanti on Ford Lake over Fourth of July weekend. There are rides, entertainment, and fireworks.

This year the festival starts on June 30 and runs through July 4. June 30 is a preview day with just rides and no entertainment from 5p-midnight. There will be fireworks shows on July 1, 2, and 3. The fireworks are scheduled for 10:15p (last year they started about 20 minutes late)



Admission to the fair is $5/car or $2/person walkup. As long as you have more than 2 people it is more economical to pay for car parking instead of walking in.

We have attended the Lakeshore Festival in 2009 and 2010. There were definitely some crowd issues last year - long food lines and a traffic mess leaving the festival after fireworks.

Based on our experience last year, we will not be planning to have dinner at the festival. We will also reconsider our fireworks plan (maybe moving our car to be closer to the exit if we have arrived early.
