2009 Main Street
Trick or Treat |
Every year, the Main Street Area Association sponsors the
Halloween Treat Parade with trick or treating at area merchants. The event is typically held on Halloween, or the Friday before when Halloween is on the weekend. This year's event will be on Monday, October 31 from 11a-5p.
The Downtown Branch of the Ann Arbor District Library will be hosting two Halloween Parties during the event, from
10:30-11:00a and
11:30a-noon. The Halloween Parties will include story time and a treat parade through the library. The story times are held in the Multi-Purpose Room.
If you're downtown, stop by the AnnArbor.com office between 11a-3p to have your
child's photo taken. They'll be giving out candy too.

| 2010 Halloween Program at AADL |
I have watched the library program change over the past 5 years from a single program in the youth story corner, to a single program in the multi-purpose room, to multiple programs. The last two years the parties have been before trick or treating started at 11a. We attended the earlier show each year which had a more manageable crowd and then stopped for breakfast at coffee shops to kill time until the trick or treating started and were able start trick or treating right at 11a. This was especially advantageous last year when we had to make it to my daughter's school at 12:30p.
We are looking forward to having lunch and trick or treating downtown again this year. I don't think we can make any of the library sessions this year since my daughter has school until 11:15a. But, before she was in school, I would have preferred the less crowded 9:30a library time to an 11:30a time slot.
