With the warmer day today, one of my daughter's friends wanted to go out bike riding. My daughter hasn't been on her bike since the late fall, so I pumped up the tires for her and let her head out.
It is almost comical watching her try to ride her bike. Her knees are practically hitting the handlebars. Poor kid can't pedal very fast since she's grown so tall on the bike. She received the 12" bike two years ago for her fourth birthday and even this summer she was still at a perfect size for it.
I was hoping that she would be able to learn to ride it as a two wheeler this year figuring that it would be more secure to learn on the smaller bike and then being able to go up to a 20" bike for next year. But, I think we're going to have to go with the 16" for her to learn. I guess I know what the Easter Bunny will be bringing her this year.
Any tips on helping a child learn to ride without training wheels? She definitely prefers her training wheels.
