Cranbrook Institue of Science Discounts
Have you visited the Cranbrook Institute of Science yet? If you have not, or you loved it, you may want to consider the discounts that Groupon is currently offering.
For $19.99, a family of four (two adults and two children or two senior citizens) can visit the Cranbrook Institute of Science. Or for $39.99 you can buy a one-year Friends Membership. A friends membership covers two adults living in the same house, their children under the age of 18, and 2 guests per visit. The deal is available for purchase through Thursday, March 28 at 11:59p or while supplies last.
Spring break next week would be a good opportunity to check out Cranbrook. They are typically open 10a-5p Tuesday-Thursday, 10a-10p on Friday and Saturday, and noon-4p on Sunday. They are typically closed on Mondays, but will be open on Monday, April 1 from 10a-5p for spring break. Over Spring Break, they will have a different theme with special activities each day. Monday is Astronomy Day, Tuesday is Earth Science/Paleontology Day, Wednesday is Physics Day, Thursday is Anthropology Day, and Friday is Earth Day.
We have not yet been to Cranbrook Institute of Science. My daughter loves dinosaurs, so the Dinosaurs – The Lost World exhibit would be of interest to her. She will also be fascinated by their use of QR Codes to access more information via smart phones or tablets (WiFi available).
In addition to free admission to Cranbrook Institute of Science, a Friends membership includes reciprocal admission to over 300 ASTC science centers and museums. Reciprocal admissions may be restricted at museums within 90 miles. In other words your Cranbrook Institute of Science Membership may not be valid for admission to the Ann Arbor Hands on Museum. We have an Ann Arbor Hands on Museum membership and have used it quite a bit at museums around the country as we travel. The museums we have visited include:
- Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing
- Field Museum in Chicago
- Chicago Children’s Museum (no longer participating)
- Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago
- Hagley Museum in Wilmington, DE
- Explora in Albuquerque, NM
- National Museum of Nuclear Science & History in Albuquerque, NM
- New Mexico Museum of Natural History in Albuquerque, N
We have definitively found it worthwhile to have an ASTC reciprocal membership. Even if you only visit Cranbrook once and use the ASTC benefit, the membership will be worthwhile.
