The Puck Drops Here New Years Eve Celebration
In honor of the Winter Classic on Wednesday, January 1 at Michigan Stadium, downtown Ann Arbor will be celebrating the New Year with “The Puck Drops Here” from 8p-2a on December 31. The event will be held on Main Street.
The Puck will descend a 10′ pole beginning at 11:58.40 hitting the bottom at midnight on January1, 2014. There will be a lighting ceremony and the puck will be raised. I have seen the puck lighting listed at 8p (Convention Bureau), 8:30p (Mlive), and 8:33p (Main Street Area Association).
There will be several food trucks available and many of the local restaurants will be re-opening their outdoor seating with warmers. There will also be a warming tent in the Palio’s parking lot.
Entertainment will include several DJs, a drummer, and Ann Arborite/Voice Star Michelle Chamuel.
While I doubt my daughter would make it until midnight especially with the cold temperatures, I am sure she would enjoy the puck lighting and the activity on Main Street. We love the Main Street events during the spring and summer months.
