A Frigid Weekend Roundup

Boy was it cold yesterday, especially later in the day when the wind picked up. Looking forward to next week, it looks like a few more days are at risk for cancellation due to cold temperatures (Fortunately, AAPS is already scheduled to be off on Tuesday). What did you do with your unexpected day off? I was working on the Preschool Guide, so we mostly stayed home although we did meet up with friends to see The Nut Job at Rave Cinemas. My daughter really enjoyed the movie and I loved the popcorn/drink deal for refills all year long.

We have a slight reprieve from the frigid temps today with a high up to 25, although the temp seems like it is going to be dropping throughout the day. If you do head out, be sure to leave extra time and drive carefully. I have heard the roads aren’t great.

This weekend is the last weekend of the Auto Show at COBO Center in Detroit. We really enjoyed our visit last weekend and recommend it especially if you are in the market for a new vehicle.

There are some fun events this weekend. If you had signed up for the LEGO Movie Hands On Event at Barnes & Noble, that is today at 2p. Unfortunately, when my friend called to signup earlier this week they were already full. She was able to signup for the 3p session at the Brighton Barnes & Noble. My daughter would have loved this event, but she has a soccer game this afternoon so was unable to attend. She is very excited for the LEGO Movie and was thrilled to see a preview with The Nut Job.

If you have a child who will be 3 this year, it is time to start looking at preschools for the fall. As I mentioned, I published a Preschool Guide sponsored by FUMCN, Stone School Cooperative Nursery, Ann Arbor Nursery, and Acorn Glen Cooperative Preschool. The Preschool Guide lists open house information and links to information on schools. I am still adding information to it, so keep checking back for more information. This weekend, you will want to make plans to attend the Preschool Expo at Palmer Commons on the UM Campus.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
