Preschool Guide: Acorn Glen Cooperative Preschool

Disclaimer: Acorn Glen Cooperative Preschool is a sponsor of the Ann Arbor with Kids Preschool Guide. All opinions are mine.

Acorn Glen Cooperative Preschool opened in December 2012 offering an alternative Cooperative Preschool. Acorn Glen is located at 1547 Miller Ave.

The preschool has a loose structure including opening and closing meetings, encourages children to guide their own learning each day in a multi-age setting. Parents work in the classroom one day each week. With the large number of parent volunteers, they can reach a adult:child ratio of 1:3 giving children the flexibility to decide what to play including if they play outdoors or remain indoors.

For 2014-2015, attendees will have the choice of a morning (9a-noon) or afternoon session (12:30-3:30p). You have the option of enrolling for 5 days a week, or selecting which 3 or 4 days your child will attend.

Acorn Glen will be having a FREE Indoor/Outdoor Playgroup Open House on both Saturday, February 1 and Saturday, February 8 from 10a-noon. Kids will have the opportunity to participate in toddler/pre-school aged activities both indoor and outdoors. Refreshments will be provided. The Playgroup/Open House is for both parents and children. Parents must accompany their children. Friends, family, and siblings are welcome at the Open House/Playgroup.

Acorn Glen Cooperative Preschool will begin accepting applications from new families on Saturday, February 1 at the first playgroup/Open House. They are expecting slots to fill quickly, so plan to enroll early to ensure you receive your first choices of dates/sessions.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
