Weekend Roundup – January’s Gone, Cold & Snow are Still Here

Well I was hoping that with the change in month from January to February, that we could shed some of this cold and snowy weather. While we had a reprieve today – and my daughter was thrilled to have outside recess for the first time in January, another storm is rolling in tomorrow and possibly on Tuesday with very low temperatures predicted for next Friday morning.

There are a lot of great events this weekend, so hopefully the weather will not be as bad as predicted. If I hear of any cancellations, I will be sure to share on Facebook.

If you have a child who will be preschool aged this fall (3 or 4), it is time to consider looking at Preschools. Be sure to check out the Ann Arbor with Kids Preschool Guide sponsored by Acorn Glen Cooperative Preschool, Ann Arbor Nursery, Stone School Cooperative Nursery, and FUMCN Preschool.

Preschoolers and Toddlers are sure to love Skyline High School’s Dora the Explorer Live: Dora’s Pirate Adventure on Saturday at 11a and 2p and Sunday at 2p. They will also enjoy meeting the Pout-
Pout Fish after Nicola’s Books 11a story time.

Meanwhile, older children will appreciate the Burns Park Players production of Hello Dolly! at Tappan Middle School.

My other pick for Saturday is the Dive-In Movie: Despicable Me 2 at Mack Pool. My daughter loves to swim and is very excited by the idea of a movie at the pool.

The other movie option for this weekend (which would excite her if she knew about it) is Frozen Sing Along showings. She loved Frozen, and would love to see the Sing Along version. I haven’t mentioned it yet in case the weather is prohibitive. I’m not sure how long it will be around and our next weekend is busy…two soccer games, a birthday party, LEGO Movie release, and Sound of Music at Huron High School.

Of course the big activity this weekend is the Super Bowl on Sunday afternoon. If I get a chance, I’ll be sure to share a few ideas to entertain the kids during the game.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
