Mid-Winter Break Activities

Ann Arbor Public Schools are off this week and many families have been able to take advantage of the break for vacation (hopefully some place warm). We are stuck in town since my husband has to lecture 3 mornings this week in the class he is co-teaching at UM. I much preferred when the AAPS & UM breaks were the same. Fortunately, there are several special activities for school aged kids this week. Even if your kids aren’t school aged, it is good to note that the schools are off and you may see more older kids around town. I know when my daughter was a preschooler or a toddler, there were places that we avoided during break week since the older kids were around. This morning, I brought the older kid invasion to Jungle Java. Unfortunately I didn’t get this posted while there since their internet was not working.

Xtreme Bounce Zone and Jump City have added extra bounce times this week and Ann Arbor Parks has added open skate hours at its two ice arenas. Jungle Java, Chelsea Treehouse, and The Jungle Gym have their regular hours available. The Ann Arbor District Library has added several events for elementary aged kids and teens this week. The Ann Arbor Hands on Museum has ScienceFest: MAKING STUFF activities each weekday.

Unfortunately Zap Zone had a President’s Day event this morning and does not seem to have special hours this week for the remainder of break (opening at 4p through Thursday and 3p on Friday). If I find out otherwise, I will let you know.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
