Ann Arbor Civic Theatre Auditions for Kids
Ann Arbor Civic Theatre has two upcoming productions with roles for Ann Arbor area youth. The Junior Theatre will perform Fairy Tale Family Vacation, an original play by local playwright Emilio Rodriguez on May 15-18. The Junior Theatre performances has roles for children in 4th-12th grade. Auditions will be held on March 17-18 at 4p with performances on May 15-18. Little Shop of Horrors will have a cast of mostly adults, with 2-6 roles for young dancers (age 7-12). The young dancer auditions will be on March 29 at 1p.
AUDITIONS SET FOR TWO ANN ARBOR CIVIC THEATRE PLAYS
Ann Arbor Civic Theatre announces auditions for two upcoming productions: the Main Stage musical Little Shop of Horrors, directed by Brodie Brockie, and Junior Theatre’s Fairy Tale Family Vacation, directed by Katherine Altman. Those auditioning for either show need attend only one of the regular auditions but should be available for callbacks. All auditions take place at the A2CT Rehearsal Studio, 322 W. Ann St., Ann Arbor, MI, 48104.
Fairy Tale Family Vacation, an original children’s comedy by local playwright Emilio Rodriguez, lampoons not only the road-trip comedies of the silver screen but the classic fairy tales we’ve all grown up with. Auditions are March 17 and March 18, at 4pm. Callbacks, if needed, are March 19 at 4pm. All auditioning should arrive promptly at the beginning of the audition session should and plan to stay for the entire two-hour session. No preparation or pre-registration is required. There are roles for up to 25 young actors in GRADES 4rth-12th. Auditions consist of cold readings from the script and theater games. Production dates are May 15-18, 2014.
Little Shop of Horrors is a campy, doo-wop musical comedy about a mild-mannered flower shop owner and his insatiable plant, Audrey II. Auditions are March 29 and March 30, with callbacks April 1 at 7pm. Those auditioning should attend one of the regular audition sessions and be available for callbacks. No pre-registration is required. There are roles for three men ages 20-70, four women ages 16-40, plus an adult ensemble and 2-6 young dancers ages 7-12. Audition requirements and specific audition times are available at a2ct.org. Production dates are June 5-8, 2014.
