Long Weekend Update – March 8-10

Ann Arbor Elementary Schools have a day off on Monday for the end of the marking period making this a long weekend. My daughter’s Girl Scout troop is taking advantage of the long weekend for a camping trip, so we won’t be able to attend any of the events.

This is a great weekend for movies with the release of Mr Peabody & Sherman, Chicken Run as the Free Spring Matinee at Quality 16, and Frozen and The LEGO Movie still in Theaters. For families with special needs, Quality 16 has a Lights Up Sound Down showing of Mr Peabody & Sherman.

For American Girl lovers, Barnes & Noble has an Isabelle themed event: Truly Talented You on Saturday at 2p.

There is also a seminar for parents this weekend at the Downtown Branch of AADL. Free to Learn: How Children Educate Themselves Through Play features author Peter Gray talking about the importance of learning through play.

It’s a busy museum weekend with Critters Up Close at AAHOM and Family Science Workshop: Present Day Predators & Prey at UM Museum of Natural History.

The other event that catches my attention is the Shamrocks & Shenanigans Race sponsored by Conor O’Neills. If my daughter was available, we would definitely be heading to the race.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
