Weekend Roundup: March 21-23

Spring is finally here. Hopefully the weather will continue to improve. Our snow has finally melted to the point that we can remove some of the holiday lights that have been buried since the first weekend of January. (Don’t worry they have been turned off since then). I am hoping to get to that on Saturday since it is forecast to be warmer than Sunday.

It’s a big weekend for movies with Muppets Most Wanted opening today. We were unable to attend a preview, so I don’t have a review to share with you. We did enjoy The Muppets in 2011. The Quality 16 Free Spring Matinee is Madagascar showing at 9a and 10a on both Saturday and Sunday. Mack Pool is holding a Dive-In Movie showing of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 on Saturday at 6:30p. (Their April Dive-In Movie will be Frozen). Besides Muppets Most Wanted, there are several kids movies still at the theaters…Frozen, The LEGO Movie, and Mr. Peabody & Sherman. It’s also a great weekend to watch Frozen if you bought it on DVD/BluRay. If you want a copy and have not yet bought it, the week of release is typically the best time to buy the movie.
There are several museum events this weekend with the Children’s Vision Day Event at Ann Arbor Hands on Museum on Saturday and Predators & Prey Discovery Day at UM Museum of Natural History. The Hands on Museum will also have Professor Ray’s Everyday Science on both Saturday and Sunday.
It is also a good weekend for Mom2Mom Sales with events at Green Apple Garden Play School and St Luke’s Lutheran Church.
We are looking forward to the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra’s presentation of The Planets on Sunday at 4p at the Michigan Theater. My daughter loves the music of Star Wars which is featured and is also looking forward to the space themed pre-show activities as she is currently studying space in science class.
Other events include Brownie Story Time at Nicola’s Books, Calico Play Day at Learning Express Toys, LeapReader Event at Barnes & Noble of Ann Arbor, Dancing Babies at Pittsfield Branch of AADL, and a Rainbow Loom Advanced Class at Learning Express Toys.

A bit further from Ann Arbor is the Teddy Bear Care Fair at the Toledo Zoo and Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate at The Palace at Auburn Hills.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
