End of April Weekend Roundup – LEGO, Thomas, Sesame Street & much more

It seems like this time of year is always super busy. Our weekends are very busy for the next 4 weeks…so busy that there are many great events we won’t be able to attend. I suppose it doesn’t help that my daughter also has several friends with birthdays at this time of year so we add birthday parties to spring activities and we are packed.

This weekend my daughter is really looking forward to the LEGO KidsFest. I’ll be sharing photos on Instagram while we are there and will have a write-up over the weekend. There is limited availability for the Friday afternoon session (4-8:30p), but the Saturday and Sunday sessions are sold out.

For toddlers through Preschoolers, there are two great events beyond Ann Arbor. Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music is at Seagate Conference Center in Toledo through the weekend. It is also the first weekend of Day Out with Thomas at Greenfield Village in Dearborn. Closer to home, there is  Dancing Babies with Gari Stein at Malletts Creek Branch on Saturday at 10a.

With Earth Day having occurred this week, there are several events around town. Take advantage of several recycling/disposal events around town on Saturday morning. Then head to Leslie Science & Nature Center from noon-4p on Sunday for the Ann Arbor Earth Day Celebration.

This is the last weekend of the Free Spring Matinees at Quality 16 with The SpongeBob Squarepants Movie showing at 9a and 10a on Saturday and Sunday. Face Painting Robot will be there on Sunday to finish the series with face painting (for a small fee). Speaking of Free Movies, the Michigan Theater has their Family Friendly Film Series Showing of Labyrinth on Sunday at 1:30p (free for kids 12 and under).

Other events of note are Kids Club Mother’s Day Duck Tape Heart Frame from 10a-noon Saturday at Michaels Stores and Sunday Splash Day at Mack Indoor Pool.

The Ann Arbor District Library has several events this weekend including Friday’s The West African Sounds of Sunkwa Concert at Downtown Branch and Sunday’s Juried Submission for Kids Art Fair at Ann Arbor Art Fair at Pittsfield Branch and El Dia de los Ninos y Libros at Downtown Branch. There are also events for older kids (5th or 6th grade+) with Steampunk Gearrings at Malletts Creek Branch and Creating Video Games: Programming both on Saturday.

I also wanted to point out a few deals that are available:
