LESLIE SCIENCE & NATURE CENTER PRESENTS A SPRING EGGSTRAVAGANZA!
ANN ARBOR, MI, MARCH 31, 2014 –
Leslie Science & Nature Center (LSNC) invites you to celebrate the changing seasons by joining us at our Spring Eggstravaganza. This event, including crafts, activities, and a nontraditional egg hunt, will engage, educate, and delight the entire family on-site at LSNC, 1831 Traver Rd, Ann Arbor, MI, 48105, on Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m. to noon.
After a long, cold winter, local families have many reasons to celebrate the arrival of spring. LSNC held our first traditional egg hunt program with a variety of activities just last year, to the enjoyment of an excited and engaged community. The high number of participants showed a genuine demand for the event, but LSNC’s staff motivated team of educators and naturalists felt they could make the experience even better, with a smaller group of participants and more to learn and do. A year of diligent thought and planning has led up to the announcement of a fully realized new program: Spring Eggstravaganza!
Spring Eggstravaganza will utilize the entire LSNC site, giving families plenty of opportunity to explore. Participants will bring their own baskets as they follow paths through Black Pond Woods, past our Natural Playground, and into the fields that hold our Sensory Trail, following clues to find hidden caches of eggs along the way. Many visitors to LSNC are familiar with the live animals living on-site but this special egg hunt will challenge children and adults to determine which of those animals lay eggs, and what those eggs look like, as they embark on the LSNC egg hunt designed around our egg-laying animals. Collecting enough eggs will make guests eligible for a prize, and visitors looking for an additional challenge just a few “golden” eggs will be hidden around the grounds — finding one of those will result in a special treat!
After visitors explore the grounds, gather eggs, and visit live educational animals, they are invited to relax around the campfire as our educators read childrens’ books aloud to the assembled families. The event’s craft area will offer a variety of activities for visitors, including the opportunity to color paper eggs with natural dyes.
Leslie Science & Nature Center’s staff are excited about this new event and delighted to share it with the families of our community! Spring Eggstravaganza is an all-ages event, but an adult is required in each group of attendees.
Please join us for Spring Eggstravaganza on Saturday, April 19 from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Leslie Science & Nature Center, 1831 Traver Road, Ann Arbor, MI, 48105. Registration is $8 per individual, or $30 per family. Because event size will be limited to just 125 participants pre-registration is required at http://www.lesliesnc.org or by calling 734-997-1553.
