Passport 2 Pittsfield Next Weekend

Each year Pittsfield Township runs the Passport 2 Pittsfield Open House with a chance to visit the different Pittsfield Township facilities. The event is family friendly with the chance to inspect police cars and fire trucks, the Pittsfield Township Farmers Market, and the Box City recycled craft project. See below for more details.

For the sixth year, Pittsfield Township will throw open its doors at our public safety, municipal services, parks & recreation, and administration buildings to invite residents to tour each facility and participate in family friendly activities during the Passport-2-Pittsfield (P2P) Event on May 4th.

Residents are invited to tour Township facilities, tour the buildings, participate in fun activities, and learn more about the services that Pittsfield Township offers-including our Farmers Market at this annual open house event.

The doors to Pittsfield Township’s six buildings will open for visitors from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM for a day of fun to discover, explore and create. Pittsfield Township employees will be serving as volunteer greeters and tour guides at each of our facilities. AAATA buses will be available for residents to park in one place and use transit to tour all facilities. Visitors will receive a P2P Passport to chart the afternoon’s FREE activities. Offerings planned include:


  • Park and ride on an AAATA Bus to get to the next event location
  • Get your P2P Passport Photo taken at the Township Administration Building
  • Visit our pop-up Farmers Market
  • Participate in KidsVote 2014
  • Enter drawings to receive prizes from our generous sponsors
  • Participate in our Box City recycled craft project
  • Check out the Police Cars and Fire Trucks
  • Get your picture taken with Sparky the Fire Dog
  • Climb on the large equipment at the Utilities Field Office and play “Guess the Weight”
  • Participate in minute to win it challenges and field day activities at the Parks & Recreation building

The event will feature a special Pop-Up Farmers Market from 1-7p. The regular Pittsfield Township Farmers Market will return on Thursdays from 3-7p beginning June 5 and running through October 7. This one-time, Pop Up Farmers Market is a taste of great things to come. Join Pittsfield Township staff and your favorite vendors for some spring goodies- Ed’s Breads, Nemeth Greenhouse & Farms, O-R Olive Oil, Penny’s Cakes, Prochaska Farms & Greenhouse, Suchman Swine Sausage, Zilke Vegetable Farm, Carol Repasky Pottery, Pescara Hand Crafted Foods, Ypsilanti Food Coop, Dad’s Dogs, Brewed Awakenings, Gouge Farms, and Harnois Farm.

Beverages, snacks, hot dogs, sandwiches, produce, nursery plants, baked goods, pork, poultry, eggs, pottery, olive oil, honey, bee pollen, apples, apple cider, and preserves will all be available during this rain or shine event. Kids activities will be held inside the administration buildings with the Passport-2-Pittsfield open house. Sparky the Fire Dog & McGruff the Crime Dog will be at the Police and Fire Stations next door.

The Pittsfield Township Farmers Market is a weekly, summer market that features local and regional food and agricultural businesses, artisans, and entertainers. Stop by and pick up fresh produce, meats, and cheeses, baked goods, preserves and pickles, oils, and spices. Enjoy a snack or hot dinner while socializing with your neighbors and watching the children run around on the play ground.
