Spring Break Kickoff Weekend – UM Spring Game & FestiFools

Spring Break kicks off after school today for many local school districts. If you are headed out of town for the break, have a great trip (and hopefully enjoy some warmer weather). If you are staying in town, don’t worry there are tons of great events around town this weekend and even into next week.

This weekend is highlighted with FoolMoon/FestiFools and the UM Spring Game (and associated festivities). FoolMoon is tonight on Washington St & Ashley Street and is highlighted by the Luminary Parade at 8:15p. Then, tomorrow the UM Spring Football game is at 2p, followed by the UM Men’s Lacrosse team playing at Michigan Stadium. We love attending the UM Spring Game which is free (although donations for C.S. Mott are appreciated). The Spring Football weekend wraps up on Sunday with the Hail to the Victors: 1 Mile Fun Run and 5K.

In movies this week, Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens. I know we are very excited to see this movie, although it may take us until next weekend to fit it in. It is also a great weekend for the Quality 16 Free Spring Matinee which is Puss in Boots. Face Painting Robot will be in the lobby from 8:30-10a on Sunday doing face painting for a charge ($3-15).

The museums also have some great events with Family Day at Kelsey Museum of Archaeology and ScienceFest: PhysicsPalooza at Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum. We have had a lot of fun at past Family Days at the Kelsey Museum.

As we look forward to spring break next week, there are a number of special events planned. The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum will have Design-Build-Test-Deconstruct Pop-Up Makerspace each day. The Ann Arbor District Library has several fun events. Xtreme Bounce Zone has special Spring Break Hours. If you want to swim, there are Youth Log Rolling Class at Mack Pool and Jump Start Swim Clinic at Goldfish Swim School. Look for more details on spring break events later this weekend.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
