Mother’s Day Weekend Roundup

It looks like we have a nice weather weekend for Mother’s Day. Of course, this is the week my daughter’s soccer team has a bye week after suffering through two chilly games last weekend. I will say that I am glad that the rain seems to have let up. My daughter’s class should be walking back from today’s field trip about now (they were inside during the field trip but it was close enough to walk instead of taking a bus).

Summer is fast approaching, so it is also a good time to look at your summer schedule and check out the Ann Arbor with Kids Summer Camp Guide sponsored by UM Museum of Natural History, Precious Sprouts of Ann Arbor, My Urban Toddler and Ann Arbor Rec & Ed.

The big event this weekend for young children is Touch a Truck at Ypsilanti High School from 9a-noon. My daughter loved Touch a Truck when she was younger. For the transportation lover, it is also the last weekend of Day Out with Thomas at Greenfield Village. Limited tickets are available for Saturday, but there are a number of tickets available for Sunday. Older kids will enjoy exploring the creations at the Ann Arbor Mini Maker Faire at Morris Lawrence Building at WCC.

With the warming weather and approach of summer, it is a good day to brush up on water safety with Safety Day at Goldfish Swim School.

There are a few Mother’s Day events around town including Mostly Handmade Mother’s Day Craft at Ann Arbor Whole Foods locations, Make a Mother’s Day Card at Pittsfield Branch of AADL, Mother’s Day Wildflower Hike at Leslie Science & Nature Center, and Mother’s Day Family Swim at Goldfish Swim School.

Story times this weekend include Nature Tales Adventure Tales at Leslie Science & Nature Center, Story Time with Humane Society of Huron Valley at Nicola’s Books, and Asian Pacific American Storytelling at Bookbound.

If you missed the A2SO KinderConcert Fabulous Flute sessions this morning at the Downtown Branch of AADL, they will be repeated on Saturday at the Dexter library and Monday at the Ypsilanti library.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
