More Events This Weekend: Greek Festival & African American Festival
I’ve been seeing signs around town for the Greek Festival and also the African American Festival, but somehow they slipped through the cracks as I was adding events for the weekend roundup.
The Ya’ssoo Greek Festival began today, June 6 and runs through Sunday, It will be open 11a to midnight on Saturday and noon-6p on Sunday. There will be live entertainment (dancers and music) and great food. Admission is free before 1p on Saturday, all day Sunday, and for children under 12 at all times. Admission is $3 after 1p on Saturday. The Greek Festival is located at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church (3109 Scio Church Rd). Free Parking (with a shuttle) is available at Knox Presbyterian Church (2065 S. Wagner Rd, 1/2 mile away).
The 19th Annual African American Downtown Festival is on Saturday, June 7 at Fourth and Ann St in Downtown Ann arbor. The event will run from 9a-8p. The festival will include food, clothing, art, musicians/singers, and more. There will be a “Kidz Korner” with carnival games, prizes, face painting, arts and crafts, and more. Kidz Korner will be open from 11a-6p. Festival admission is free.
