Pittsfield Township Farmers Market Starts Tonight – Kid-Friendly Activities

The Pittsfield Township Farmers Market is held from 3-7p on Thursdays at the Pittsfield Township Office, 6201 W. Michigan Ave. For 2014 the market opens on June 5 and runs through October 7. In addition to the fresh foods available they also offer special activities and entertainment.

Every week they will have a scavenger hunt, coloring sheets, sidewalk chalk, and farm toys. Plus, the Farmers Market is adjacent to the playground, at the Township Office.

Today (Thursday, June 5), for opening day, they will have face painting (4-6p) and kids crafts.

They will have a monthly Kids Day with extra kid-friendly activities. The first Kids Day is June 19 with kids craft, live music by Kevin Devine, and tumbling with GymAmerica. The remaining kids days are tentatively scheduled for the third Thursday of the month – July 17, August 21, September 18, and October 9. The October Kids Day will feature a costume contest and Halloween safety tips.

The Pittsfield Township Department of Public Safety (DPS) will hold a fireworks safety talk on June 26 and will have the firetrucks out for kids to play on and meet with firefighters (unless they are needed for an emergency). DPS will return on July 10 for a discussion on bike and walking safety.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
