Strawberry Mint Agua Fresca – Inspired by Taste of Ann Arbor
Today we attended Taste of Ann Arbor and while we enjoyed many of our meals, we were inspired by Lena’s Agua Fresca (Strawberry Mint) to create our own version.
Agua Fresca is a fresh water made with fruit and often sweetened with sugar. We really liked the strawberry mint at Taste of Ann Arbor and decided to stick with the same flavors. Fortunately, strawberries were on sale this week and I had plenty to use.
I hulled 16 strawberries and used 4 leaves of fresh mint from our yard. My daughter isn’t a big mint fan, so I wanted to make sure I didn’t use too much mint. You could probably use 2 more leaves for a more minty flavor.

I removed the strawberry stems and used my Magic Bullet to puree them with the mint leaves. Any blender or food processor would work to puree the berries and mint.
I mixed the berry/mint puree with water and a scant 1/4 c of sugar in a 10 cup pitcher. Next time I would probably use a little less sugar.
I served over ice and garnished with a strawberry.
