From the event press release, the play is described as below:
Ernie The Play by award-winning author Mitch Albom returns for a limited six week engagement at City Theatre, opening July 10, 2014. The play features classic footage from historic baseball moments, supplied courtesy of Major League Baseball, and boasts many unmistakable Harwell calls. Tigers fans will get a glimpse of the time that Ernie met the Great Bambino and Ty Cobb. They’ll witness how he “recreated” games in his early days, and what was behind his broadcasts of the Tigers’ 1968 and 1984 World Series. For discounted Group Sales tickets (8 or more people ), call 313-471-3099.
I asked about the suggested age range of the show. It is appropriate for all ages, although more likely to be enjoyed by parents as a date night. However, children who are very interested in baseball will likely enjoy the show as well.
The City Theatre is located at 2301 Woodward Ave, Detroit.
