Rec & Ed Fall Sports Registration – Update – Soccer Priority Registration Extended
Speaking of a variety of sports, have you read Rec & Ed’s blog post “Does Early Sports Specialization Hurt Kids?”. I had the opportunity to try a number of sports through my elementary and middle school years…t-ball, soccer, volleyball, basketball, swimming, cross-country, and track at a rec level. I really enjoyed getting to try the different sports and seeing which were better fits for my minimal skill levels. My daughter has played Rec & Ed soccer for the last 4 seasons (plus one indoor soccer season) and is looking forward to a fifth season. I have tried to encourage my daughter to branch out, but she is committed to soccer. She’s only entering third grade, so she still has time to branch out.
For each sport offered, there is a Priority Registration deadline. Priority Registration offers a $10 discount and priority team placement based on school and attendance area. Standard or Primary Registration that will yield a better chance of being placed on a team for your child’s school. As long as space is available on teams, you can still register your child up until the time the season begins and your child will be added to a team.
Soccer is offered with both girls leagues and boys leagues for each grade from K-8. Priority Registration ends at 4:30p on Friday, July 11. The Standard Registration Deadline is July 16 at 4:30p. Priority Registration is $105 for residents and $115 for non-residents. Standard Registration is $115 resident/$125 non-resident.
