August at Nicola’s Books

Nicola’s Books has a number of fun events scheduled for the rest of the summer.

Saturday Story Time is at 11a each Saturday this summer. The August 16 story time will feature The Humane Society of Huron Valley who will be bringing adoptable pets with them).

Tuesdays in August will feature a 10a Story Time with retired youth services librarian Ieva Bates. The stories will be The Knight and the Dragon on August 5, Where the Wild Things Are on August 12, In the Small, Small Pond on August 19 and How to Catch a Star on August 26.

On August 27, the Great Lakes Zoological Society will be visiting for a special story time for elementary school aged children. The event begins at 10:30a and will include a story, craft, and animals.

Wednesdays in August will feature Camp Nicola’s with events themed “Fun with Science” for kids ages 7-12. Camp Nicola’s is held from 1:30-3p each week. There is a $5 supply fee for each session plus you will need to purchase the book (at a 20% discount) because each week’s book will contain materials needed for the activities.


Tuesdays in August will feature a Young Writers Workshop with Young Adult Author Bethany Neal from 1-3p. Signup is required as there is a limit of 12 slots (signup is for all 4 weeks). The event is for children ages 10 and up. There is $10 supply fee for each attendee to receive a set of 3 Moleskin Cahier Journals. The August 5 event will feature Young Adult Author Sara St Antoine as a special guest
