Back to School Shopping: Lands End Deals Include Backpack Discounts
Last week on the Ann Arbor with Kids Facebook Page I polled my readers to find out if their kids get a new backpack each year or reuse. There were mixed responses, but slightly more for buying a high quality backpack and using it for multiple years.
Last year I asked my daughter if she was ready for a new backpack after using the same Lands End backpack for Kindergarten and First Grade. She was content with her backpack and the matching lunch box and they were still in great condition, so she kept using them.
However, this year, she is starting third grade and opted for a new backpack. She wanted a more mature style (from pink hearts to solid teal) and the next size (medium instead of small). She was also ready to switch from having her name embroidered to just having her initials. I love having the option to have her items monogrammed since it makes them easier to find with similar backpacks.
For her new backpack, we opted to buy a FeatherLight style instead of the ClassMates style that she previously had. The FeatherLight includes a padded pocket that is perfect for a laptop or other electronics (such as a tablet). I also bought her a new matching lunchbox. I like the new lunchbox design that zippers around instead of only opening at the top. I think it will be easier to pack and clean.
I held out on ordering her backpack waiting for a sale. I did have a 25% off coupon when I placed my order, however they are now offering 30-40% off of back to school items including backpacks and lunch boxes. The deal is available through August 25.
I was thrilled with the service that I received from Lands End. When ordering the embroidery, I used the online chat tool to confirm which color of embroidery thread was used in the online picture so that I could achieve the same match on my daughter’s items. It took my daughter’s backpack about a week to arrive, so you may need to upgrade to express shipping to increase your chances of having it by the first day of school.
