Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social This Weekend

On Sunday, August 17 from 1-4p there will be an old-fashioned ice cream social at the Weber Blaess one-room schoolhouse in Saline. The event is sponsored by the Saline Area Schools Historic Preservation Foundation.

The ice cream social will feature homemade ice cream, hot dogs, musical entertainment, and historical re-enactments  of typical one-room school house and turn of the 20th century life.

There will be crafts and recess games form the early 1900s as well as other old-time activities like croquet, watermelon seed spitting, stilts, and more. The Saline Area Fire Department will also be demonstrating an 1800s bucket brigade.

Proceeds of the event will benefit the maintenance of the Weber Blaess schoolhouse. The Weber Blaess schoolhouse is located at 520 Woodland Dr, Saline.

You can find more information in the Saline Journal’s writeup.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
