Saline Community Fair Starts Wednesday
The Saline Community Fair starts on Wednesday, August 27 and runs through Sunday, August 31 with the rides also open on Monday, September 1. The Community Fair is held at the Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds, 5055 Ann Arbor-Saline Rd. You can find the full event schedule on the Saline Fair website.
General admission to the fair is $7 for those ages 11 and up, unless otherwise noted in the notes below. Children are free except for Preschool/Toddler Day on Thursday, August 28 when admission is $5 from 9a-2p (and includes kiddie rides from 11a-2p). Friday is both Senior Citizen Day with free admission for seniors (age 65+) until 1p and $5 admission for adults until 1p. Admission is free on Monday for the rides.
Ride Wristbands are available each day of the fair for $18 except as noted below. You can purchase a 3 Day Mega Ride Wristband for $36 at Busch’s (Saline). The fair book for 2014, lists the ability to purchase your wristband for $12 online before August 26 from the rides company, Elliott’s Amusements. However, when I visit that website, they do not list any fairs so there is no opportunity to buy tickets. I will keep researching and let you know if I find out more details. There is a $3 coupon available on page 17 of the Saline Fair Guide.
The Fair Parade will be held in the parking lot of the Farm Council Grounds at 6:30 on Wednesday, August 27. The parade route will snake through the parking lot, so you can watch from your car or setup chairs next to the car. There will be plenty of goodies during the parade such as candy and other free giveaways. The fair will also be randomly giving out family 4 packs for the fair and ride wristbands. There is no admission charge for the parade.
The fair gates open at 9a on Wednesday, August 27 with the rides opening at 3p.
|Preschool Day Creation 2009|
Thursday is the ever popular Pre-School Day. I miss Preschool Day now that she has outgrown it. We attended Pre-School day several times over the years (Here is my review from Pre-School Day in 2010 when my daughter was 4). Admission from 9a-2p is $5 for adults and children ages 2 and over. The Preschool rides will be open from 11a-2p and are included with the admission price until 2p. At 3p, the big kid rides will open and all rides will revert to a ticket or all-day wrist band price. Pre-School day will feature activities from the Ann Arbor Hands on Museum (9-11a) a fire truck to explore, make and take crafts, and more. The Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra will bring their Instrument Petting Zoo from 9a-noon. Pat Grimes will be onstage at noon and Chris Clark Entertainment will perform at 12:45p.

While at the fair, we always make time to wander through the animal tents. My daughter loves seeing all of the farm animals.
Friday is Ladies Day with Ladies 11 and older receiving $5 admission before 1p. If you just want to explore the exhibits with your kids, this is an inexpensive way to do it…$5 for mom and kids are FREE.
Saturday, August 30 is Kids Day. Standard admission of $7/adult age 11 and up applies all day. Ride wristbands are available at the full price of $18 (rides open at 1p). There will be a number of special activities for school-aged kids from 11a-4p. Chris Clark Entertainment will return with 4 shows beginning at noon. The Pedal Tractor Pull has also been moved from Preschool Day to Kids Day. Since my daughter has outgrown PreSchool Day, I am glad that they have a Kids Day as well.
Sunday is AG Day with rides opening at 1p.
The fair will conclude on Labor Day, Monday September 1. There is no admission fee on Monday. as only the rides will be open from 1-6p. Ride wristbands will cost $10.
