Summer’s Almost Over Weekend Roundup

I can’t believe it is already the last summer weekend before Labor Day. With student move-in activities scheduled for next week, this is one of our last chances to enjoy Ann Arbor without the students. The weather this weekend is slated to be warmer than it has been most of the summer, so it is a great chance to enjoy the summer.

The Ann Arbor City Pools have Friday Flick Frozen at Fuller Park Pool at 8:30p on Friday (Note: the time has changed from the originally listed 9:30p time).  Summer Splash Day at Veterans Memorial Park will be from 2-4p on Saturday. Of course for our family, it is always a great weekend to head to the water park at Rolling Hills County Park.

The temperatures may be scheduled to hit the mid 80s on Saturday and Sunday, but you can always cool off with one of the Frozen themed events this weekend. In addition to Fuller Park Pool’s Friday night showing of FrozenAnna & Elsa will be visiting Learning Express Toys of Ann Arbor on Sunday, August 24. Finally, Frozen will be shown on the field at EMU’s Rynearson stadium on Monday, August 25. Of course Frozen isn’t the only movie this weekend. Saline is holding Movie in the Park at Mill Pond Park and will be showing The LEGO Movie.

After being closed since last week, the Downtown Branch of Ann Arbor District Library is reopening today, Friday, August 22. They have another closure scheduled beginning on August 27. The closures are related to elevator repairs. Since the library is open on Friday and the AADL website is no longer lists the GameStart School Computer Animation Workshop as cancelled, I assume the workshop is still being held. There will also be a GameStart Minecraft Programming Workshop at Downtown Branch of AADL on Monday.

There are two Back To School events scheduled for this weekend. Briarwood Mall will be kicking off the weekend with The ABC’s of Style for Tweens on Friday evening. Then, both Whole Foods Market locations in Ann Arbor will have a Back to School Event on Saturday, August 23 from 1-4p with special craft events at the Cranbrook location.

Another big event this weekend is the Firetruck Muster at Ypsilanti’s Riverside Park.
