Special guests are BUGMAN, Imagination Station, and the Sierra Club. BUGMAN will have a setup of live insects and specimens inside the Nature’s Neighborhood Workshop. Imagination Station will be on the Eats! Patio showing how to create beauty with household items – a chromatography butterfly using a coffee filter, markers, and water. The Sierra Club will be in the Forest Room demonstrating how insects can indicate the health of waterways.

Other activity stations include Build-a-Bug, Honey Tasting, Spider & Beetle Ball tournaments, and water insects/stream play.

Kids can learn more about Entomology in Home Sweet Home from 10:30a-noon and 1-3p. The Fisher Price Discovery Stage will host 3 shows throughout the day. At noon is the Chidlren’s Animal Show, and 1p is the Un-BEE-lievable Beekeeping Demo, and the final show is Keeper Tales at 2:30p.

The Toledo Zoo is located at 2 Hippo Way, Toledo, OH. Admission is $15/adults, $12/children 2-12 and seniors. All Butterfly & Bug Festival Activities are free with your admission. If you plan to visit the Zoo multiple times in a year, a membership can be very cost-effective. There are several membership options available, so there are options perfect for different family configurations.

In considering future visits, upcoming events include the Fall Science Day (Sunday, October 5), Little Boo at the Zoo (October 23/24), Pumpkin Path (October 25/26), and the ever popular Lights Before Christmas.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
