School’s Back in Session Weekend Roundup

How has your family survived Back to School? I know it has been a long week for us. Not only are we adjusting to school routine, my aunt and uncle are in town so we’ve spent time with them, and are adding after-school activities into the schedule.

This weekend is shaping up to be a busy one around Ann Arbor. There are also a few traffic shifts in the major construction projects. The major change this weekend is the closure of eastbound Jackson Rd from Wagner Rd to eastbound I-94. The road will be closed from Friday through 6a Monday. While the Ann Arbor-Saline bridge over 94 is now open, it is still restricted to 1 lane in either direction south of the bridge and access to Lohr Rd east of Ann Arbor-Saline is closed and traffic can get backed up over the bridge. The Carpenter Rd construction will be switching the traffic pattern so that both lanes are on the west side of the road instead of the east side. Traffic aside, it looks like it will be a great weekend.

Tomorrow morning I am going to have a table at The Super Run at Gallup Park. You can still register in person. The weather was looking like it was going to be great, but now the forecast shows the rain hanging around all morning. I’m hoping it clears out earlier than the current forecast. Meanwhile, my husband will be taking our daughter to her first Rec & Ed soccer game of the season. The Safe Kids Coalition Kid Zone Safety Tent will be setup at Scarlett Middle School on the Tennis Courts near the soccer fields. My daughter’s game isn’t at Scarlett or we would definitely be stopping by.

The Leslie Science & Nature Center will be holding their Monarch Migration Festival from 1-3p on Saturday. This event sounds like a lot of fun.

The Ann Arbor Farmers Market will be busy this weekend with their normal hours on Saturday morning. Saturday night will feature The HomeGrown Festival from 6-10p while Sunday will feature the Kerrytown BookFest. But, don’t wait for the Kerrytown BookFest, head to the AAUW Used Book Sale at Morris Lawrence Building at WCC through Sunday.

This weekend is also the first weekend of the FREE Fall Matinees at Quality 16.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
