September Events at Ann Arbor District Library

After a busy summer, the Ann Arbor District Library is shifting gears from weekly grade school entertainment to their weekday program for younger children and weekend events.

Events this weekend (September 5-7) include:

They are continuing their Baby Play Time and Preschool Story Time unchanged from the previous schedule.

My daughter really loved the GameStart Workshops that she attended this summer at the Downtown Branch of AADL. She will be thrilled to see that they are again holding several events at the Downtown Library this fall. The events this fall are for kids in grades 3-8 (she is in third grade, so she just makes the cut-off).
The fall also brings an increased focus on the younger kids who are home during the week.
The Dancing Babies series will continue this fall for children from birth through 5 years old. There are two Dancing Babies events scheduled for September:
In addition there are two more events just for infants.
  • Just BABIES! with Denise Owens
    • Tuesday, September 23 from 6:30-7:15p
    • Pittsfield Branch
    • Babies starting at 3 months of age through pre-walkers (no older siblings please)
  • Baby Massage
    • Wednesday, September 24 from 10-10:45a
    • Traverwood Branch
    • Babies ages 6 weeks through 7 months old
All ages will enjoy the Southpaw Isle Steelband Concert from 2-3p on Saturday, September 20 at the Pittsfield Branch. There will also be a Ukulele Party on Saturday, September 27 from 2-2:45p at the Downtown Branch. The Ukulele Party is for kids in preschool through 5th grade.
Teen through Adult events for grades 6 through adult include:
Kids from grades 3-12 can make their own Safety Pin Bracelets on Sunday, September 28 from 2-3p at the Pittsfield Branch.
For video game lovers, in addition to the GameStart events, there are also several fun gaming events scheduled this month.
Now that summer is over and the school year is resumed, they are resuming two of their regular series.
Circle K Homework Help also continues this fall with a chance to get help with homework.
Chesstastic will also resume their monthly events for all ages (grade K through adult).
Looking forward to October, there are a few events that you may want to mark your calendar for now:
A couple of extra-special events in November include:

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
