Swimming Lessons Start Tomorrow at Mack Pool

Are you looking for swim lessons for your child? Swim Classes at Mack Indoor Pool start tomorrow, Saturday, September 13.

My daughter took swim lessons at Mack Indoor Pool for several sessions. I liked lessons at Mack pool because she would work in the shallow end where she was able to stand even at 3 years old. Another great thing about swim lessons at Mack Pool is that they are offered through Ann Arbor Parks & Recrecation who also runs swim lessons at the city’s 3 outdoor pool. All of the levels are the same throughout the program so your child can transition from the indoor and outdoor lessons without a gap. I know whenever we would change locations for swim classes, it was always a challenge to figure out which level matched my daughter’s skills the best.

Swim lessons are offered on Saturdays or Monday/Wednesdays and Tuesday/Thursdays. They also offer private lessons. We did a few private lessons one summer at Vets Pool and they were great for my daughter who was stuck on putting her face in the water. She was ready to move from Level One to Level Two. They were able to really focus on her one issue with the personalized attention. After just a couple of lessons in August, she was nearly swimming independently when the summer ended. I do recommend doing at least one or two sessions of swim lessons before summer to help keep your child’s developing skills from slipping over the cooler months.

If your child is older and can already swim, you may want to consider the Mack Manta Rays Swim Team for them. Practice is daily after school (come when you can) with meets on weeknights through the fall season. Another season will start in January.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
