YPT Presents Mary Poppins in May

Young People’s Theater (YPT) gives youth from Kindergarten through high school a chance to perform on stage. This spring YPT Presents Mary Poppins as their spring musical.

YPT Presents Mary Poppins

My daughter and I have always been impressed with the Young People’s Theater shows that we have attended. I was really disappointed that our schedule was too busy last year to see their production of Wizard of Oz. Hopefully we will be able to work Mary Poppins into our schedule this year.

See our review of 2013’s The Little Mermaid and 2011’s Beauty & the Beast.

About Mary Poppins…

YPT’s very own local young people take center stage with Mary Poppins, everyone’s favorite practically perfect nanny in this Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious musical adventure.

One of the most popular Disney movies of all time is capturing hearts in a whole new way: as a practically perfect musical! Based on the books by P.L. Travers and the classic Walt Disney film, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins have delighted Broadway audiences for over 2,500 performances and received nominations for nine Olivier and seven TONY Awards, including Best Musical.

The jack-of-all trades, Bert, introduces us to England in 1910 and the troubled Banks family. Young Jane and Michael have sent many a nanny packing before Mary Poppins arrives on their doorstep. Using a combination of magic and common sense, she must teach the family how to value each other again. Mary Poppins takes the children on many magical and memorable adventures, but Jane and Michael aren’t the only ones she has a profound effect upon. Even grown-ups can learn a lesson or two from the nanny who advises that “Anything can happen if you let it.”

Mary Poppins is an enchanting mixture of irresistible story, unforgettable songs, breathtaking dance numbers, and astonishing things happening on stage!

Mary Poppins will be “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” and fabulous fun for the whole family!

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
