Typical Michigan Halloween weather is cold, windy, and sometimes rainy – although I have my fingers crossed for nice weather this year. To help combat any weather issues, I want to make sure my daughter and husband have a good, hot meal before trick or treating starts. At the same time, I also want a meal that is easy to prepare while I help with last minute preparations and that is easy to cleanup since I am at home handing out candy while my husband and daughter are trick-or-treating.
STOUFFER’S® Family Size Entrées are perfect for Halloween night. Simply open the box and bake according to the directions on the box. When you’re done simply pack up any leftovers and throw the pan away. We made their Limited Edition Pepperoni Pizza Mac & Cheese which required baking for 65 minutes, removing the film, and baking for an additional 15 minutes.
During the initial bake time, I can be rushing around getting things ready for Trick or Treating…
- Costume Prep
- Warm clothes that fit under the costume
- Hair style
- Makeup application
- Trick or Treat Prep
- Filling treat containers
- Lighting jack-o-lanterns
- Turning on outside lights
During the final 15 minute bake time of our STOUFFER’s Family Size Pepperoni Pizza Mac & Cheese, I made side dishes – a Caesar salad and sliced apples with caramel. To make the salad more festive, I added parmesan crisps in Halloween shapes. I lined my toaster oven pan with a baking mat, and spooned grated parmesan cheese into Halloween cookie cutters. I used a spatula to spread the cheese to ~1/8″ deep in the cookie cutters. Before baking I removed the cookie cutters. I made three crisps – a ghost, a pumpkin, and a moon.
As I was getting ready to bake the crisps in the toaster oven, I realized I could use the top rack of the oven instead of also using the toaster oven. I baked the crisps for 4 minutes until they were golden and crispy. They were the perfect adornment to our Caesar Salad.
Our dinner was delicious and my daughter ate every bite that was on her plate! The four servings fed our family of 3 with one portion leftover. I am planning to get another STOUFFER’S® Family Size Entree to serve on Halloween. I feel good knowing that I can give her a simple, hot dinner before she heads out into the cold to go trick or treating.
Our dinner was delicious and cleanup was very simple. Simply pack up the leftovers, toss the pan in the trash, and load the dishwasher!
On Saturday morning, we went apple picking at Wasem Fruit Farm in Milan. On our way home, we stopped at the Ypsilanti Walmart to pick up some groceries – while avoiding game day traffic. The store has been recently redesigned and now has a full grocery section.
Our first stop in Walmart was the Halloween section which is located on the general merchandise side of the store to pick up our Halloween Candy. We bought one large bag of NESTLÉ® Jumbo Assorted Fun Size Candy bag with a combination of Crunch, Butterfingers, and Baby Ruth bars. I will keep these treats in one of my Halloween bowls for distribution on Halloween. I also keep a separate container of non-food treats for kids with allergies.
Our next stop was the grocery section where we also picked up a 10-pack of NESQUIK® Ready to Drink Chocolate Milk (8 oz bottles). These bottles are perfect for packing in lunches, after school snacks, or when I’m making a quick dinner. My daughter loves the NESQUIK Chocolate Milks and regularly takes them to school when she packs lunch.
STOUFFER’S® Family Size Entrées are located in the freezer section. They had quite a selection of both Family Size and Large Family Size Entrées. My daughter lobbied for Pepperoni Pizza, a Limited Edition Mac & Cheese.
