Halloween at the Toledo Zoo

The Toledo Zoo has three Halloween celebrations: Little Boo, Pumpkin Path, and Jumping Pumpkins in October. Little Boo and Pumpkin Path are trick or treat events through the zoo. Little Boo is designed for toddlers and preschoolers and is offered on Thursday and Friday, October 22nd and 23rd. Pumpkin Path is an all ages event and is offered on Saturday and Sunday, October 24th and 25th. Jumping Pumpkins is an animal enrichment event on Halloween.

Little Boo at the Zoo

Little Boo at the Zoo is one of my favorite events. I love that it is geared towards toddlers and preschoolers. In addition to the trick or treat trail, there are Halloween themed games available for free and an inflatable zone. We attended Little Boo in 2007, 2008, and 2010. I definitely miss being able to attend Little Boo now that my daughter is in school.

Special Guests at this year’s Little Boo events are The Tinker Fairy and Pirate Jake on Thursday, and The Snow Queen, Princess Ana, and Ariel on Friday.

Admission to Little Boo is $14/adults and $14/children ages 2 and over. For zoo members, a Little Boo wristband is $7 for the children. For children under 2 to participate in Little Boo they will also need a $7 wristband.

Pumpkin Path

Pumpkin Path is similar to Little Boo but is an event for kids of all ages. Because it is on the weekend, it tends to be more crowded than Little Boo. While there is added entertainment, certain events that were free have a cost at Pumpkin Path. For example, when we attended Little Boo in 2008 and 2010 there were long lines for the free games. When we attended Pumpkin Path in 2009, there was no line at the games since they were charging $1/game.

The Star Wars 501st Legion are special guests at this year’s Pumpkin Path events.

The Pumpkin Path activities have an additional charge. Admission to Pumpkin Path is $14/adults and $14/children ages 2 and over. For zoo members, a Pumpkin Path wristband is $7 for the children. For children under 2 to participate in Pumpkin Path they will also need a $7 wristband.

Jumping Pumpkins

Help the Toledo Zoo celebrate on Halloween with Jumping Pumpkins. Throughout the day, various animals will find pumpkins in their enclosures. Watch how they play with the pumpkins from eating, knocking them over, and otherwise engaging with them.

Visiting the Toledo Zoo

We visited the Toledo Zoo in August for the first time in over a year. We were very impressed with their recent upgrades including the Penguin Enclosure and the new Aquarium. However, my daughter’s favorite part was the ‘Keet Retreat where she fed the parakeets.

Ann Arbor with Kids is your go-to source for Ann Arbor Family Fun. It got its start in an activity list that I was compiling for the playgroup I ran at our church. When my daughter started preschool, the other moms were thrilled to hear about my list. I decided to take the list public in 2009.
