Disclosure: iD Tech Camps has sponsored this post. All opinions are my own.
At iD Tech Camps students will have fun as they learn to code, add Minecraft mods, design video games, engineer robots, build websites, print 3D models, and learn other STEM skills.
About iD Tech Camps
At iD Tech Camps, campers will make friends while developing a foundation of STEM skills that will be built on throughout the courses and will be useful through school, college, and future careers. iD Tech Camps include more than just time in the computer lab. Camps have a commonsense balance of indoor instruction and outdoor activities.
iD Tech Camp Location
iD Tech Camps are held at over 100 prestigious universities including right here in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan. This is their 14th year hosting camps at UofM. Camps are offered as both day camps and an overnight camp. Day camp would be particularly convenient for parents who work at UM campus or in downtown Ann Arbor.
iD Tech Camp Details
iD Tech Camps are available for kids ages 7-17 with kids broken into groups by age (7-9, 10-12, 13-17) so they spend most of their time with their peers. One of the great things about iD Tech Camps is that all groups will be small. There is a guaranteed ratio of 8 students (or less) per instructor. With the small groups, they are able to accommodate groups that include campers at all levels from beginner to advanced as campers learn at their own pace.
This camp is the perfect way for kids to expand their STEM knowledge base in a fun environment over the summer. Some of the sessions available this summer are:
- Adventures in Scratch Programming
- Intro to Java Coding with Minecraft Mods
- Robotics Design & Visual Programming
- Minecraft 3D Game Design
- Mobile Game Design for iPhone and Android
- 3D Printing with Autodesk 123D
- Web Design & Photography
- C++ Programming
In addition to the indoor, computer time, the camps will all include outdoor activities.
As my daughter gets older, I have seen that there are a lot less options for summer camps for middle and high school students than for younger elementary students. The iD Tech Camps provide a fun summer enrichment activity for tweens and teens.
iD Tech Camp Instructors
Instructors at iD Tech Camp are all adults including many students and gradates recruited from top universities as well as industry professionals. Some instructors are even past iD Tech Campers who have come back as adults to share their love of the camp. A key qualification of all of the instructors is that they are passionate about their subjects. This enthusiasm from the instructors carries over to the students making for a more enjoyable camps.
