Ann Arbor Restaurant Week – Summer 2016
The summer 2016 Ann Arbor Restaurant Week Begins on Sunday, June 12 and runs through Friday, June 17. Over the years, Ann Arbor Restaurant Week has grown in popularity. Restaurant Week has expanded from it’s original Main Street Area focus and now encompasses restaurants throughout Ann Arbor and is held twice a year.
My family loves Restaurant Week and we enjoy deciding which restaurants to try each time it rolls around. This year we are lucky that our anniversary falls during Restaurant Week. Unfortunately this year we won’t be able to attend too many Restaurant Week meals since school is still in session for lunch and I have a couple of evening events to attend.
If you’re downtown for a Restaurant Week dinner (other than Monday night), why not head to Top of the Park while downtown for some music and the KidZone tent.
How Restaurant Week Works
During Restaurant Week, participating restaurants offer limited menus for $15 at lunch and $28 at dinner. Lunch is typically two courses while dinner is a 3 course meal. Some of the less expensive restaurants offer 2/$15 at lunch and/or 2/$28 at dinner.
It has been our experience that most restaurants assume you want the Restaurant Week Menu and either present only that menu or present both the Restaurant Week and the regular menu. Occasionally, we have had to request the Restaurant Week Menu.
Selecting Restaurant Week Restaurants
How do we select which restaurants to visit during Restaurant Week? I base a lot of my decision on the Restaurant Week menus as shared on the Ann Arbor Restaurant Week Website. I look for both restaurants that I want to try and favorite restaurants. Then, I check the menu to see if the items on the menu appeal to me. I also check the regular menu to compare the prices of the regular menu and the Restaurant Week Menu. I try to focus on the restaurants with the biggest savings over the regular menu.
Past Restaurant Week Experiences
This winter we tried out Bigalora and enjoyed their Restaurant Week lunch menu.
Last summer we went to Neopapalis for Restaurant Week and took advantage of their 3 for $28 dinner deal. The same deal is again this summer. We love Neopapalis and find this to be a great deal.
In June 2010 we had a Date Night at Weber’s for Restaurant Week. Other favorite Restaurant Week visits have included: Conor O’Neill’s, Lena, Cottage Inn, What Crepe?, The Melting Pot, Mezzevino, and many others. Of course Lena, What Crepe? and The Melting Pot are no longer options since they have closed.
Be sure to check out all of the Restaurant Week Menus before making your plans.
