Flipside Summer Camp

The new Flipside Art Studio in Ann Arbor will be holding several summer camps this summer with openings for camp starting on Monday, June 20th. Flipside Summer Camp offers sessions for kids as young as age 3 through 5th graders. They’ve just added a new Minecraft Camp option as well as Single Day Camps and an additional afternoon session next week (starting June 20th). Most of the Flipside Summer Camp options are half-day sessions (3 hours). There is one 5 hour session for children in 3rd-5th grade and Minecraft Camp is offered as either a half-day or a full-day session.

Flipside Summer Camp

Mixed Media Madness Summer Camp

Flipside will offer their Mixed Media Madness Summer Camp for 3 age groups this summer. Each camp will explore a variety of age-appropriate media.

Early Elementary (K-2) Camp

The class will be offered for students in grades K-2 on the following dates:

Preschool Camp

In the preschool class they will all things art. They will talk about materials and the history of art as well as create arts. The class will be offered for preschoolers:

Late Elementary (Grades 3-5) Camp

The Mixed Media Madness camp for kids in grades 3-5 will be offered in two sessions. In both sessions, students will work with black and white media like charcoal, graphite, and ink. They will then proceed to colored media like colored pencils, pastels, and paint. 

The “full day” session will run from 9a-4p daily. It will be held from August 8-12. The camp will include a field trip to the University of Michigan’s Museum of Art to gain inspiration from the artists exhibited there. The full day session will cost $290.

The half-day camp session will run from 9a-noon. It will be held on July 18-22. The camp costs $140.

Middle/High School (Grades 6-9) Camp

The Mixed Media Madness camp for kids in grades 6-9 will be offered as both a half-day and full-day camp based on the week. In both sessions, students will work with black and white media like charcoal, graphite, and ink. They will then proceed to colored media like colored pencils, pastels, and paint. 

The “full day” session will run from 9a-4p daily. It will be held from July 25-29. The camp will include a field trip to the University of Michigan’s Museum of Art to gain inspiration from the artists exhibited there. The full day session will cost $290.

The half-day camp session will run from 9a-noon. It will be held on July 18-22 and August 1-5. The camp costs $150.

Minecraft Camp

Flipside has just added a Minecraft themed camp for kids in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. Campers will create Minecraft themed projects such as creeper magnets, pixel art with professional prismacolor pencils, minecraft sword with professional prismacolor markers, cool masks from various art materials, and a perler bead necklace or keychain. The full-day camp also includes Minecraft themed games like slime knockdown and creeper toss.

Minecraft Camp will be held three different weeks. It will be offered as a full-day camp (9a-4p) from July 5-8 and as a half-day camp (1-4p) July 11-15 and August 22-26. The full day camp week costs $250 and the half-day camp weeks cost $125.

Flipside Summer Workshops

In addition to the weeklong camp sessions, Flipside Art Studio will be holding a summer workshop for students in grades 3-5. These one day sessions are perfect for kids who cannot commit to a full week of camp. The schedule is below:
