Cold is Cool! Free Skiing*!

Again this year, Michigan Snowsports Industries Association (MSIA) is offering free skiing via a “Cold is Cool” Passport to all 4th and 5th graders in Michigan.

Cold is Cool - Free Skiing for 4th and 5th Graders

Free Skiing Offer

Kids will be allowed up to 3 lift tickets or trail passes at each of 30 participating ski areas with their Cold is Cool passport. Mount Brighton is the nearest participating location to Ann Arbor. There are blackout days over school breaks (12/24-1/4, 1/14-16, and 2/18-20)

*While MSIA is promoting the Cold is Cool Passport as Free Skiing, there is a $20 administrative fee to cover printing, handling, and postage. Children must be accompanied by a paying adult (Season passes do not qualify as a paid adult). Each paying adult may bring 2 children on the Cold is Cool Passport. The Cold is Cool Passport also does not include equipment rental.

Other Deals with Cold is Cool Passport

In addition to the lift/trail tickets, each Cold is Cool passport includes discounts at over 50 participating ski shops. Deals include 20% off of a helmet purchase and $20 off of $100. Some ski areas have coupons for equipment rental and lessons.

Locally, participating ski shops include MC Sports Ann Arbor and Sun & Snow Sports Ann Arbor.

Personally I’ve never tried skiing. I want to try skiing, but I doubt I can convince my daughter to give it a try. However, a free promotion might convince her to try it.
