Ann Arbor Ice Skating Guide

There are several Ann Arbor Ice Skating Rinks available including both indoor and outdoor options. Last year Ann Arbor added 3 natural outdoor rinks. For the 2016-2017 winter, there are 2 natural outdoor rinks which opened on December 22.

Ann Arbor Ice Skating Guide

As a child my favorite part of winter was ice skating. When I lived in Illinois, our neighborhood park offered outdoor ice skating (basically it was a gully that was flooded each winter). My school bus took me by the park on the way home so I could check for ice conditions. However, with two younger siblings my mom had to bundle up and bring with us, I probably didn’t get to go as often as I would have liked.

Regrettably, my daughter did not inherit my joy of skating and after 15 years, my skating skills are not what they were. She gamely tried skating at a birthday party as a kindergartener, but did not want to try again until this year. Earlier this month she finally tried skating again. She found it difficult, but did make it around the rink 3 times. It is a shame since ice skating is a fun physical activity for winter and there are several Ann Arbor Ice Skating options.
