Sonic Lunch
Ann Arbor’s Sonic Lunch sponsored by Bank of Ann Arbor runs all summer. It starts the last week of May and goes through the end of August, except Art Fair week.
Each week features a different opening act and a headline performer.

A2 Summer Streets
With construction on Main Street and no announcement by mid-May, I was pretty sure A2 Summer Streets would not happen in 2023. I was surprised to see an announcement on May 19.
Treetown Sounds provided music on Thursday nights and Sunday mornings in the Main Street Social District
In summer 2022, Ann Arbor closed several streets in the Main Street area. Washington was closed all summer between Ashley and Main. From Thursdays at 4p to Mondays at 6a, Main Street was closed between William and Washington and Liberty was closed.

Top of the Park – Ann Arbor Summer Festival
Ann Arbor Summer Festival’s Top of the Park is my favorite outdoor concert event. It runs nightly except Mondays from Friday, June 9-Sunday, June 25 – a week shorter than normal
There is nightly music starting at 5p on the Grove Stage and starting at 7p on the Main Stage. There are also the kids tents, movies on select nights, Annex and Retreat activities, plus food tents and the beer garden.

Ann Arbor Civic Band Concerts
Ann Arbor Civic Band holds a series of concerts on Wednesday evenings in the summer at Burns Park.
Traditionally concerts have been held at the West Park Bandshell at 8p. However, structural issues were found in early summer 2021 and it cannot be used. The concerts have been relocated to Burns Park for this summer – and now start 30 minutes earlier at 7:30p.
Concerts are free. Bring your own blanket or chairs. Check out our report from the Children’s Concert a few years ago.

For 2023, the John E Lawrence Jazz Series remains at Ford Lake Park on Friday nights.
In 2021 and prior years, this was the Frog Island Jazz Series. But, an increase in popularity meant it outgrew the Frog Island location. With the new location it was also renamed for local jazz artist, John E. Lawrence.

The Salty Summer Sounds in Saline returns this summer. Every Thursday is music in the Streets starting at 7p. The concerts take place on South Ann Arbor St which is closed.
The series starts on June 16. Further details have not yet been announced. We have temporarily listed them through Labor Day.

Summer Carillon Concert -No 2023 Information as of May 24
The University of Michigan typically holds a Summer Carillon Concert Series with performances at both bell towers. UM has two bell towers – Burton Tower (Bell Tower on Ingalls Mall) and Lurie Tower (on North Campus). They are on Mondays at 7p. They typically announce the series close to the start.

Concert in the Park – No updates since 2019
Ann Arbor Parks hosts free concerts on Sunday afternoons at 3p in Burns Park starting the weekend after Art Fair. The concerts are free, but donations of canned goods and other non-perishable food for Community Action Network (CAN) are appreciated.
Their website still lists the 2019 series. They did not have a series in 2020, 2021, or 2022. They typically announced the concert in June, so we are still waiting for a 2023 update.
