Salt Springs Brewery – Restaurant Review

Last night we had dinner at Salt Springs Brewery in Saline for the first time. My husband and I tried to have dinner there a few weeks ago, but the wait was too long. This time we were with another family and had a reservation.

Salt Springs Brewery Restaurant Review

Salt Springs Brewery Food

Salt Springs Brewery offers a menu of appetizers, flatbreads, entrees, and sandwiches. For beverages, they offer their craft beers, cider, wine, and bottled sodas. My husband enjoyed his beer. As a water drinker, I appreciated that they left bottles of water on the table for use to refill our own glasses.

Entrees

My daughter and I decided to share the Salt Springs Macaroni and Cheese with smoked chicken. The portion size was small. It definitely is not made for sharing. Even when we share, my daughter and I often bring home leftover macaroni and cheese. Today, we each had only a small meal. Next time, we will not be sharing the macaroni and cheese.

My husband opted for the brisket which was a special today. His portion size was larger. He shared some of his finger potatoes with us which helped fill out our portions.

Sandwiches

My friend ordered a burger. The burger was huge and the serving of fries was ample. On our next visit, I am going to try a sandwich. I almost ordered the pulled pork which might be my choice next time.

Kids Menu

My daughter’s friend ordered the Kids Macaroni and Cheese. It is not a huge portion and he easily finished it. Other kids menu options include a cheeseburger, ham sandwich, and pizza. They offer Kids Eat Free on Tuesday. Unfortunately at 11, my daughter is too old for the program.

Appetizers and Flatbreads

No one at our table ordered any appetizers or flatbreads. We debated a couple of appetizers, but decided to just order our dinners. I did consider a flatbread as my entree. The menu states that flatbreads will be delivered when they are ready and are suggested for family style dining. Since I wanted to eat with the rest of the group, I decided against the flatbread.

Desserts

We wanted to order dessert with our meal. Unfortunately, two of the desserts were unavailable. The only options were gelato, floats, and pudding. The brownie and caramel bar were both sold out. We decided to skip dessert at Salt Springs Brewery and stop on our way home.

Our Thoughts on Salt Springs Brewery

Atmosphere

Salt Springs Brewery was originally a Methodist Church. Prior to the brewery opening in August 2015, it was the Stone Arch Arts Center. Personally, my friend and I both remember it as Beanstalks, an indoor playground when our kids were toddlers (2008-early 2009). My friend remarked that the brewery seems brighter than when it was a play place.

The brewery is not large, but we had plenty of room between our table and the neighboring tables. It was a bit loud in the restaurant, but it wasn’t too distracting.

Overall

We liked the atmosphere at Salt Springs Brewery. While our portion size was small, I think we’ll give it another try and order different menu items. We really want to try the flatbreads, so I’m sure we’ll return. Our food took awhile to prepare, so we may try a weekday when they are not as crowded.

Have you been to Salt Springs Brewery? Do you have any favorite dishes we should try on our next visit?
