First Fridays Ypsilanti Is Back For Another Season
Featuring over 28 venues and events this month, First Fridays Ypsilanti (FFY) returns for another season on January 7, 2017. FFY offers a night of free activities and fun for all ages throughout the downtown areas, along Michigan Avenue and Depot Town. Come celebrate another season of FFY with 4 grand openings, several new venues, and events for the entire family.
In Depot Town, Babo Ypsilanti, Cream & Crumb and Cafe Ollie host their grand openings during FFY. Babo Ypsilanti, located at 17 E. Cross St., will have grand opening activities from 11-7pm and local art and live music from 5-7pm. After being closed for two months, Cafe Ollie is celebrating their grand opening party from 5-10pm. Offering a new menu and drinks, Cafe Ollie is now a full service restaurant and bar, located at 42 E. Cross St. In addition, Cafe Ollie has announced that they have moved the coffee, desserts, and ice cream from their storefront to start a community bakery and coffee shop called Cream & Crumb. Hosting a grand opening party at 42 E. Cross. St. from 5-9pm.
Along Michigan Avenue, 3D Nutrition hosts its grand opening from 6-9pm. Offering discounts and samples of nutrition-packed smoothies, 3D Nutrition promotes health, inspiration and wellness at 234 W. Michigan Ave. Grove Studios, at 1145 W. Michigan Ave, host Goddess: a celebration of women artists, musicians and artisans. With an art reception, music concert and bazaar from 7-11pm. At 76 N. Huron, Riverside Arts Center presents the 13th Annual Docent Volunteer Exhibit from 5-7pm. This open reception is in honor of the volunteers who keep the doors open for visitors to the RAC exhibits and features a multimedia show with painting, pastel, ink, pencil and jewelry pieces. At 10 N. Washington St, Cool Critters have taken over the Go! Ice Cream Alley Store with music provided by Vest and Tyler, featuring dance music from 6-9pm. Hosting a Pop-Up at the Ypsilanti Transit Center Bus Station, Washtenaw National Organization for Women (NOW) invites the community to create chalk art from 5-7pm, chalk provided. As a part of Anti-Street Harassment Week, Washtenaw NOW will showcase volunteers starting at 6pm.
FFY is a self-guided monthly art walk hosted throughout downtown Ypsilanti at multiple venues. Each month on the first Friday participating venues offer free art activities involving local artists, musicians and more. The goal of First Fridays Ypsilanti is to showcase local talent while supporting local businesses in the downtown area. The FFY Season is from April to December.
